Satellite Privacy Policy

Effective and last updated: July 11, 2026

This policy describes how r3Dr ("r3Dr," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use Satellite on Android, Android TV, iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV (collectively, the "App"). Satellite is a client for media servers you choose, currently including Plex and Jellyfin. It does not provide or host a media catalogue.

1. Plain-language summary

  • Satellite needs your server address and authentication information to connect to your media server.
  • The App stores its settings and credentials on your device and sends requests directly to the server or service you configure. r3Dr does not operate an intermediary media or account server for Satellite.
  • r3Dr does not sell or rent personal information, serve behavioural advertising, track you across other companies' apps or websites, or use third-party advertising SDKs.
  • r3Dr does not intentionally collect App analytics. Apple, Google, your operating-system provider, or your media-service provider may independently process store, purchase, diagnostic, network, or account data under their own terms.
  • If you contact us, we receive the information you choose to send and use it to respond.

2. Information the App processes

Server and account information. To connect, the App may process a server URL or local network address, username, password, access token, API key, device identifier assigned by a media service, and related connection settings. These are used to authenticate and communicate with the server or service you selected.

Media-library and playback information. The App may retrieve titles, descriptions, artwork, library structure, user profiles, watch status, playback position, playlists, and stream details from your media server. It may send commands, playback progress, and watch-state updates back to that server. This processing is necessary to display and play your library.

Local preferences and technical data. The App may store preferences such as appearance, language, selected server, playback options, cache data, and information needed to maintain a session. Your device necessarily exposes ordinary network information, such as its IP address and request metadata, to the servers it contacts.

Purchases. If the App offers a paid download or in-app purchase, Apple App Store or Google Play processes the transaction. r3Dr does not receive your complete payment-card number. We may receive a transaction status, entitlement, receipt, or purchase token when needed to unlock or restore a purchase.

Support communications. If you email us, we receive your email address and the message, attachments, and diagnostic details you voluntarily provide. Do not send passwords, access tokens, or private media.

3. Where information is stored and sent

Satellite stores App data locally using storage and security features supplied by your operating system. The App communicates with your configured Plex, Jellyfin, or other media-server endpoints, which may be on your local network or reachable over the internet. The operator of that server controls the server-side copies and logs.

Device backup or synchronization is controlled by your platform settings. Android/Google backup or Apple iCloud backup may copy eligible App data to your account. Satellite is designed not to intentionally include media-server passwords or access tokens in cloud backup, but platform behaviour and user-managed device backups remain controlled by the platform provider.

4. How r3Dr uses information

Information is processed to connect to your chosen server, show and play your library, preserve settings and sessions, verify purchases, provide support, protect the App and users, diagnose a problem you report, and comply with law. We do not use App information to build advertising profiles or train artificial-intelligence models.

5. Disclosure and third parties

Satellite discloses information through the connections you request. Relevant third parties may include:

  • Your server and its operator: the person or organization running the server can access its accounts, requests, library activity, and logs.
  • Plex or Jellyfin: features that use their authentication, discovery, metadata, relay, or other services are governed by their policies and settings. Satellite is independent and is not endorsed by Plex or Jellyfin unless expressly stated.
  • Apple or Google: they distribute the App and may process account, purchase, device, store-performance, and diagnostic information. Diagnostics shared with developers depend on your platform settings and the store's reporting practices.
  • Support and legal recipients: we may use service providers to operate email or disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate abuse, or complete a business reorganization subject to appropriate safeguards.

We do not permit third parties to use information we receive from Satellite for their own targeted advertising.

6. Retention, deletion, and security

Local App data remains until you remove an account/server, clear the App's data, or uninstall the App, subject to device backups. Data on your media server is retained under that server operator's settings. Purchase records are retained by the applicable store and may also be retained as required for tax, fraud prevention, accounting, or legal obligations.

Support messages are kept only as long as reasonably needed to answer the request, maintain an appropriate support history, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. You may request deletion of support information using the contact below; we may retain limited records when legally required.

We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the App, but no device, network, or storage system is completely secure. You are responsible for securing your device and server, using HTTPS for remote connections where available, limiting server exposure, and protecting credentials.

7. Your choices and privacy rights

You can choose which server to add, remove saved servers and sessions in the App, manage platform backup and diagnostic-sharing settings, clear local App data, or uninstall the App. Manage media-library history and account data with your server operator or media-service provider.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or obtain a copy of personal information that r3Dr controls, and to appeal or complain to a privacy regulator. Because r3Dr generally does not receive the information processed locally or by your server, we may direct you to your device platform, store, or server operator. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

8. Children

Satellite is a general-audience media client and is not directed to children under 13 or the minimum age required by local law. r3Dr does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the App. A parent or guardian who believes a child sent information to r3Dr should contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate. Server owners are responsible for profiles and content they make available to children.

9. International use

Your chosen server, platform provider, store, support email provider, or media service may process information in countries other than your own. Their transfers are governed by their policies. Information sent directly to r3Dr may be processed in Canada and other locations used by our service providers, with protections required by applicable law.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the App or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy at this same URL and update the date above. If a change materially affects how r3Dr handles information it already controls, we will provide additional notice where required.
