Satellite Terms of Service
Effective and last updated: July 11, 2026
These Terms of Service and End-User Licence Agreement ("Terms") are an agreement between you and r3Dr ("r3Dr," "we," "us," or "our") governing Satellite on Android, Android TV, iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV (the "App"). By downloading, purchasing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. What Satellite does
Satellite is a client that connects to compatible media servers you select, currently including Plex and Jellyfin. It helps you browse and play media made available by those servers. Satellite does not host, supply, sell, verify, or control your media, your server, internet access, or third-party services. Compatibility, formats, and features may vary by device, operating system, server version, network, region, and App version.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be legally able to enter this agreement. If you are under the age of majority, a parent or legal guardian must accept these Terms and supervise your use. You are responsible for accounts, server addresses, credentials, devices, and activity under your control. Tell us promptly if you believe the App or a purchase entitlement is being misused.
3. Limited licence
Subject to these Terms and the applicable store rules, r3Dr grants you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable licence to install and use the App on devices you own or control, including devices used through permitted family-sharing or volume-purchase arrangements. The App is licensed, not sold. r3Dr and its licensors retain all rights not expressly granted.
You may not copy or distribute the App except as platform rules permit; rent, lease, sell, sublicense, or commercially exploit it; reverse engineer, decompile, or bypass technical protections except where applicable law expressly permits; interfere with security or operation; introduce malicious code; use it to violate rights or law; or misrepresent affiliation with r3Dr.
4. Your media and lawful use
You are solely responsible for the server and media you access. You must have authorization to access the server and all rights needed to store, stream, display, and share its content. You must comply with copyright, privacy, export, sanctions, and other applicable laws and with the terms of Plex, Jellyfin, your server operator, internet provider, device platform, and app store. Satellite must not be used to access pirated, unlawful, harmful, or unauthorized material or to defeat access controls.
5. Third-party services and content
Third-party names and marks belong to their owners. Satellite is independent and is not endorsed by Plex or Jellyfin unless expressly stated. Third-party services may change, restrict, suspend, or stop working without notice. Their terms and privacy policies govern your relationship with them. r3Dr is not responsible for their content, availability, security, accuracy, conduct, or data practices.
6. Prices, purchases, subscriptions, and refunds
Any price, billing period, trial, included feature, and renewal term will be shown before purchase. Apple App Store or Google Play processes store transactions under its billing rules. Unless the offer says otherwise, subscriptions automatically renew until cancelled through your store account at least as required by the store before renewal. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
Taxes and currency conversion may apply. Manage, cancel, or restore purchases through the store used to buy them. Refund requests are handled by the applicable store, subject to its rules and mandatory consumer law. We may change future prices or offerings with notice required by the store or law; a price change does not retroactively alter a completed one-time purchase.
7. Updates, changes, and availability
We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features to improve the App, address security or compatibility, comply with law, or respond to third-party changes. We do not promise that every feature will remain available or that the App will work with every server, file, device, or service. Updates may be required for continued use. We will honour mandatory consumer rights and provide notice when required.
8. Support and maintenance
r3Dr, not Apple or Google, is responsible for App support and maintenance to the extent required by law and these Terms. Support is provided on a reasonable-efforts basis; no response or resolution time is guaranteed. Contact [email protected]. Apple and Google have no obligation to furnish maintenance or support for the App.
9. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled and is incorporated into these Terms. Your server operator and third-party services apply their own policies.
10. Feedback
If you voluntarily provide ideas or feedback, you grant r3Dr a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free licence to use and incorporate it without restriction or compensation. This does not transfer ownership of your confidential information or personal data, which remains subject to the Privacy Policy.
11. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available." r3Dr disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, uninterrupted operation, security, and accuracy. We do not warrant that playback will be error-free or that data, settings, or media will not be lost. You should maintain backups and secure your server.
Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties, remedies, or other rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. If the App fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify the store. Apple may refund the purchase price, if any, as required by its rules; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the App.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, r3Dr and its affiliates, licensors, and personnel will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, data, media, or access; or server, device, network, or third-party failures arising from or related to the App, even if advised of the possibility.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising from the App or these Terms will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for the App during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or CAD $50. These limits do not apply where prohibited, including liability that cannot be limited for fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, death, personal injury, or mandatory consumer rights.
13. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you will defend and indemnify r3Dr against third-party claims, damages, and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful use, your server or media, your violation of another person's rights, or your material breach of these Terms. This does not apply to the extent a claim results from r3Dr's own conduct or where consumer law prohibits it.
14. Suspension and termination
You may stop using and uninstall the App at any time; store cancellation rules still apply. Your licence terminates automatically if you materially breach these Terms. We may suspend or terminate access to r3Dr-controlled features when reasonably necessary for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, non-payment, or discontinuation. Sections intended by their nature to survive will survive, including ownership, disclaimers, liability, and dispute provisions.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Subject to mandatory local consumer rights, courts located in Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction. Before filing a claim, please email [email protected] and allow 30 days for an informal resolution. Nothing here prevents either party from seeking urgent injunctive relief or using an eligible small-claims process.
16. Export and sanctions compliance
You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a Canadian, United States, or applicable comprehensive embargo and are not listed on an applicable prohibited- or restricted-party list. You will not use or export the App contrary to applicable export-control or sanctions laws.
17. Apple-specific terms
If you obtained the App through Apple, these Terms are between you and r3Dr, not Apple. The licence is limited to Apple-branded products you own or control as allowed by the App Store Usage Rules. r3Dr, not Apple, is responsible for the App, its content, maintenance, support, warranties, and claims relating to product liability, legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer protection. If a third party claims the App infringes intellectual property, r3Dr, not Apple, is responsible for investigation, defence, settlement, and discharge of that claim to the extent required by these Terms and law. You must comply with applicable third-party terms. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you upon your acceptance.
18. Google-specific terms
If you obtained the App through Google Play, these Terms are between you and r3Dr, not Google. Google is not responsible for the App, its content, support, maintenance, warranties, or claims. Your use is also subject to the Google Play terms. If these Terms conflict with Google Play's applicable distribution terms, the Google Play terms control to the extent of the conflict.
19. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms for future use when the App, business, third-party services, or law changes. We will post the updated Terms at this same URL and change the date above. Material changes will receive additional notice where required. Changes do not retroactively reduce rights in completed purchases. Continuing to use the App after revised Terms become effective constitutes acceptance where permitted by law; otherwise, you may stop using the App.
20. General
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement about the App except for terms presented with a specific purchase. If a provision is unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the remainder stays effective. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; r3Dr may assign them as part of a merger, reorganization, asset transfer, or by operation of law, subject to mandatory rights. Headings are for convenience only.
